Oh ewwwww...this is postively the most disgusting food I have eaten in a long time. I should have turned around and walked out the minute I stepped foot in the door; the place looked cheap, shabby and dirty. The food was barely edible. I got fried perch which was OK but flavorless. The mashed potatoes were boxed and tasted just like a box. I think there was supposed to butter on the potatoes. I am basing this on the yellow colored layer on the top which didnt taste like butter. I also got mixed veggies. When I think of mixed veggies I think of a nice grilled mixture of green beans, carrots, maybe some zucchini and broccoli. Nope, wheat I got was that veggie mix we ate as kids. You know, the one with the corn, pale green peas, and lima beans.... Which, by the way, tasted like it was probably laying around in the freezer since my childhood. To top it all off I found spaghetti spelled "spaghatti" and sword fish spelled "sowrd fish" on the menu...a printed menu board not some wipe off board. How does a menu board get past the printer with typos like that? This place is low class and I will never go there again.

I was so excited to get some fried fillet catfish... What i received was hard ass cornmeal on dried up catfish. I ordered Cajun rice and I got rice that tasted like it came from a hospital cafeteria. Oh so disappointed and I will not be back!

I've stopped here twice for the chicken wings. I don't know where they buy their wings from, but there are still feathers sticking out of some of the wing tips. Taste of the wings is fair, the hot sauce is decent. Takes a long time to get your food, restaurant cleanliness is only so-so. Probably not going to stop here again.

They have good deals. Their large pint sized spaghetti with meat sauce is around 2.75 dollars. That's pretty cheap for one meal, noodles and company can learn from this generosity. The only downside is sometimes they don't warm the spaghetti enough and some parts of the spaghetti is till cold when they hand it to you. But at 2.75 dollars which is even cheaper than hospital food and they make it homemade themselves I'm sold on their generosity. Furthermore it tastes appropriately seasoned, nothing to write home about, but tasty enough to want to wolf down when you're hungry from work. Their catfish special is pretty good. Though I personally don't like fried foods, I like the fact that fried catfish is pretty good, and the price they make it at means they're only barely scrapping by because the price of catfish in supermarkets is more expensive than tilapia. Their catfish fried pieces special comes with fries and and drink and is slightly over 5 dollars. The catfish is appropriately moist on the inside. you can remove the breaded part yourself, but getting a fish meal for around 5 dollars is a good deal. Other downside is unless you eat a lot of fresh fish, you're probably not used to removing bones from them or being careful. The catfish fried pieces is authentic catfish with minimal manual extraction of the bones. So take some care and don't choke, though if you do someone at Oak Park hospital can probably help you.

I'd like to give it three stars because I've had some GREAT catfish, fries, coleslaw here. Then I wanted it again. I like whatever they bread/batter the fish with. It's light and crispy. Fries are good. Well, I went back again (it's close by and within walking distance to me) and was soooo disappointed. The catfish was loaded with big bones throughout (every piece). I got a piece of chocolate cake and think I would have been better off getting a Hostess cupcake at the gas station next door. I'll go back again and try to get some great fish or shrimp, but not too soon after my last experience. It's a small chain and better quality than the giant fast food chains. Moderately priced, not super cheap or overly expensive.

Best fried chicken in the area. Fresh and juicy. I come every week. Jumbo shrimp is delicious.

The owner of this place brings to mind a few adjectives that wouldn't be appropriate for Yelp. I ordered catfish dinners complete with fries, sides and cake for my 3 employees and myself. The portions were more than enough. In fact, the white Styrofoam to-go boxes were overflowing with fish, chicken and fries. The final price was somewhere around $50. Everything was going great until I asked for sauce to go with the meal. This is when the owner handed me what I can only describe as 2 cups the size of thimbles. Okay, I'm exaggerating but have you ever been in a hospital where they give you pills in that really tiny plastic cup? That would be more accurate. So I asked if I could have some more sauce. You know, something appropriate to accommodate these 3 grocery bags full of food. He proceeds to ask for an additional $1 per 4 thimble sized containers. I thought he was joking. Unfortunately, he was dead serious. After some heated words, mostly from me, I threw a wad of singles across the counter towards him (that was incredibly rude of me and Owner if you're reading this I sincerely apologize) grabbed a handful of mini sauce cups and left. I couldn't believe that he was willing to loose a customer coming to spend $50 on food over $2 of sauce. Unbelievable.

I occasionally stopped here on the way back to my Logan Square apartment to get fish on the way home from work. Located in a strip mall next to a Subway, hair salon and the yummy sushi house Fuji Grill, the various locations of J&J Fish serve up some pretty good fried fish. I've had the catfish filets, jack salmon and whitefish. All quite good if that's what you happen to crave. J&J is good for a "chain" in the fish department. But, it isn't mind-blowing lik Troja's, Chief O'Neill's or Duke of Perth. If you can't get to any of those Big 3, then J&J does the trick to satisfy....yes....you got it....the SICKNESS !!!!! (See my Arby's in Berwyn, IL review if you want to understand what the SICKNESS is!)
